Burnout Syndrome
Ever felt empty and mentally exhausted, devoid of any motivation, or are beyond caring? Almost like you've been dried up from excessive stresses? If so, you may have been experinecing an episode of burn out. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is a syndrome that results from improperly managed stress and is characterized by three aspects: cynicism, feelings of inadequacy, and mental exhaustion. While most reportings discuss it in the workplace, academic burnout has also risen in recent years- partly due to the Covid Era.
Coupled with anxiety and depression, the rate of students experiencing burnout have ranged between 5% to 75% at it's current rate. Read more about it here.
